How to Make Orange Juice

Orange Juice

Gourmet Orchards provides the best juicing oranges in the industry, and freshly squeezed orange juice is one of the best thirst quenchers on the planet. Buying it at the store can cost a pretty penny, but there are several DIY methods that will provide awesome results. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need an expensive juicer to enjoy fresh orange juice. Though making your own juice takes some time, the final product is unmatched. Here are our three favorite ways to make orange juice at home!

Use a Blender or Food Processor

Prepare your oranges by peeling the skin and removing the seeds. Cut the oranges into one inch pieces and put them into the blender. Pulse your blender or food processor a few times to break them up a bit, and then continue to blend until you have a fine orange puree. Next, taste your juice to see if it is ready to drink. If it is too dry, add some water. If you don’t like pulp, pour through clean cheese cloth or a strainer to remove it. If the juice is too sour, add a sweetener. Lastly, blend again until you have the perfect texture for your preferences.

Squeeze by Hand

This method requires some muscle, but the end result is so worth it! Start by rolling the orange (in tact) on the counter or squeezing it gently with your hands. This loosens up firm oranges and makes them easier to juice. If you have Gourmet Orchard oranges, they will be perfect for hand squeezing! Cut the orange in half and if necessary, remove the seeds. Take one half of the orange and press it face down on a juicer. This simple device forces juice out and catches it in the bottom for easy pouring. If you like pulp, use a spoon to scoop some out of the leftover orange. If you do not like pulp, strain the juice before drinking.

Electric Juicer

As at home juicing becomes more popular, affordable juicing options are on the market. Electric juicers are one of the easiest ways to make juice at home. Almost any juicers will work for orange juice! Begin by peeling your oranges and cutting them in half. Before you put the oranges in, turn on the juicer and put a cup under the spout. Don’t worry about de-seeding because the juicer will take care of them. Put the oranges in the chute and wait for your refreshing deliciousness to appear!
