We’re back with another recipe for those holiday cookie exchanges! Snickerdoodles are a classic treat, but when made right, they are arguably one of the best cookies around. This recipe creates the perfect snickerdoodle, with a soft and chewy center and a sides that are just a little bit crispy. For a festive twist, add colored sugar to your coating sugar mixture for snickerdoodles with a little extra flair. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

Ingredients:\u00a0<\/strong> Directions:<\/strong>
\n1\/2 cup butter, softened
\n1\/2 cup shortening
\n1 1\/2 cups white sugar
\n2 eggs
\n2 teaspoons vanilla extract
\n2 3\/4 cups all-purpose flour
\n2 teaspoons cream of tartar
\n1 teaspoon baking soda
\n1\/4 teaspoon salt
\n2 tablespoons white sugar
\n2 teaspoons ground cinnamon<\/p>\n
\n1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
\n2. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1\/2 cups sugar, eggs and the vanilla. Gradually blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
\n3. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon in a smaller bowl. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
\n4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set, but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.<\/p>
