Here at Gourmet Orchards, we try to make life as simple and delicious as possible. Although finding balance in day-to-day life can feel nearly impossible, we hope our easy, gourmet recipes are one less thing to think about. One of our favorite ways to conquer busy weeks is to make healthy food ahead of time. This requires less planning and assures you will be making healthy choices each day.
This traditional hummus is a perfect spread to make at the beginning of the week, and use as a snack or supplement to meals. Hummus is great with pita bread or raw vegetables, and can be used on sandwiches, wraps or in salads. The garbanzo beans provide protein, making this a healthy choice when you are too busy to plan ahead. Hummus is also a great appetizer! For a gourmet touch, serve in a bowl and garnish with olive oil, paprika and a sprig of parsley.
Preparation Time: 20 Minutes
1 clove garlic
1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, half
the liquid reserved
4 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons tahini
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1. Chop the garlic. Pour garbanzo beans into a blender, reserving about a tablespoon for garnish. Add lemon juice, tahini, chopped garlic and salt into blender. Blend until creamy.
2. Transfer the mixture to a medium serving bowl. Sprinkle with pepper and pour olive oil over the top. For a truly gourmet presentation, garnish with reserved garbanzo beans.
